A contribution to all year tourism in High Country Victoria
You are invited to work together to convince local governments in the region to invest in the expansion of the scope of tourist attractions!
The points to raise are:
- Eco: the clean environment in the region is a treasure, it should be promoted with special emphasis and eco projects could be supported by local government to get Victorian sustainability grants
- Harmony inside out: in society and within ourselves. The country environment may promote not only a relaxing environment and offer health retreats, but to support inter-cultural and international harmony in society, by organising cultural events of that kind
- Heritage: not only to offer sight seeing of heritage buildins and places, but organising authentic and high quality cultural events with a heritage flavour: country fun, such as “bush dancing in a barn” or country music festivals AND multicultural folk dance shows (to welcome everybody), organised visits to local historical societies and museums with lectures, also promoting local artists’ exhibitions – all these to be supported by local governments to get Victoria tourism and government grants
- Culture (and business): symposiums and workshops could be organised combined with health weekends. Conferences (for corporate organisations as well) could be transferred from the overcrowded Melbourne to support regional Victoria and attract the participants to stay for a while in health retreats. Health retreats could be expanded or new ones built with a special structure to suit the replenishment of people from the busy national and international corporate world.
An eco-harmony-heritage-culture-tourism campaign was launched in Mansfield by Unity in Diversity Inc., a community organisation, and was promoted by the Mansfield Shire in 2009, 2010 and 20111. The next step is to liaise with the local government to also financially support projects within that framework.
